CHICO, Calif. -

Chico Police said two women and one young child were assaulted by four men early Tuesday morning.

The men reportedly forced entry into the victims' apartment on the 1200 block of north Cedar Street, just a few blocks from Chico State University.

Police said the suspects attacked the victims, kicking and punching them in the head and torso, demanding the location of a male subject.

One of the men was carrying a gun.

The assault ended when the pet of a victim – a pit bull,  entered the room and scared the suspects.

The victims were treated for minor injuries.

The suspects are still at large. They were described as black men in their 20s. If you have any information, please notify Chico Police.
