In honor of American Heart Month, the Shasta Regional Medical Center presented their annual luncheon to promote a healthier lifestyle.
On Friday afternoon, more than 500 people attended the “Go Redding For Your Life” luncheon at the Holiday Inn. KRCR News Channel 7’s Jennifer Scarborough emceed the event.
The event focused on the benefits of a whole food, plant based diet. Dr. T. Colin Campbell was the keynote speaker. He is the author of the China Study which is featured in the documentary “Forks Over Knives.” On Friday, he presented his nutrition research on the diet and talked about using food as medicine.
All proceeds from the luncheon will be donated to Good News Rescue Mission and Shasta Family Justice Center.
"Forks Over Knives" will be shown for free Friday at 7 p.m. at the Cascade Theatre in Redding.
