High-Powered Rifle Used to Shoot at Car in Chico

CHICO, Calif. -

The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in South Chico.  It happened Thursday night just after 6:30 on Midway at Hagen Lane.  A caller said suspects had just shot at him and his vehicle and then drove away northbound on Midway.

The victim's vehicle was occupied by a man and woman.  Neither was injured.    

Deputies arrived three to four minutes later and searched the area but failed to locate the vehicle.  It appeared that the suspects had used a high-powered rifle. It is believed that this incident is possibly gang-related.

Anyone with information about the suspect or suspect vehicle in this case is asked to call the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
