A Chico hit and run driver claimed the life of a bicyclist on Wednesday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol Officer Kurt Powell said a little after 3 p.m. on Robles Rd., a silver mid- to full-sized SUV was heading northbound when it drifted off the shoulder and clipped 61-year-old Rick Magee of Durham.

Magee was brought to Enloe Medical Center but died at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers are looking for the SUV right now. They say it likely has damage to its right front corner.

They urge citizens to contact the authorities if they have information.
