Investigation Launched for Bone Fragments Found in Siskiyou County
The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that bone fragments were found in the South County area.
The Sheriff's Department is sending the bone fragments to Chico State Anthropologists for further analysis. While the remains are analyzed, detectives will be investigating cold cases and missing person's reports.
Sheriff Lopey said, “Due to the location and state of the remains we will not be releasing any more information until detectives and anthropologists have completed their investigations. As with all investigations and analysis we will be utilizing all available technologies including DNA tests. We are considering the possibility that these may be related to missing persons cold cases and do not want to jeopardize those investigations until we can clearly identify the remains that were located.”
Anyone with information regarding the bones and fragments that were found, or have information related to any of the cold cases should contact Detective Jeff Moser at (530)842-8764.
