Krispy Kreme Re-Opens In Chico

CHICO, Calif. -

Dozens of people were up early Tuesday in Chico for the grand re-opening of Krispy Kreme doughnuts on Business Lane.

The first 100 people in line qualified for prizes including free doughnuts and t-shirts.

Jacob Jacobo of Hamilton City camped out to be first in line.  He arrived Sunday at 8 p.m.  The prize for being first in line is a dozen free doughnuts each week for a year.  That adds up to 624 donuts.

"My brother told me I should sell them, the ones I don't eat," said Jacobo.  "I like doughnuts but I don't like them that much,this was just something to do with my extra time."

The store opened Tuesday at 5:30 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting to follow at 9 a.m.

Krispy Kreme opened at that same location in 2003 before closing in 2005.
