A Red Bluff man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after witnesses said a man was chasing children with a knife.
Police officers were dispatched to the area of Franklin Street at Cedar Street in Red Bluff after callers reported that a Hispanic man tried to steal a dog from a home.
Shortly after the initial call, dispatchers received additional reports stating that a man was chasing children with a knife in an alley near Cedar Street.
When officers arrived they found 22-year-old Timothy Robbins. Red Bluff Police Sergeant Michael Graham said Robbins is on active probation in the Post Release Community Supervision program.
According to police, Robbins did not have a knife on him but they said he was being uncooperative and acting very "fidgety" and "abnormal."
No one was injured during the incident. Robbins was taken to the Tehama County Jail.
