Neighbors Concerned After Shooting in Oroville
The neighborhoods of South Oroville have been the scene of a series of crimes. There have been reports of shootings. On Monday night fireworks going off upset residents in an area that is already on edge.
All of the shooting and dangerous activity is happening in the 2500 blocks of B and C Streets.
Darryl Evans said he heard 15 shotgun blasts and five pistol rounds fired off right behind his house late Monday night.
He saw a big flash between two homes that he can see from his front porch. He told KRCR Newschannel 7 he called and waited for police but no one showed up.
"It's made me scared to live here since the day I moved in," said Evans. "But because of my financial situation of being of SDI for my accident I can barely survive."
Police and neighbors said it was fireworks that were being shot off Monday night, not gunfire. Evans is still nervous after a shooting in the area last week.
A rental parked in the driveway of a home was shot several times. No one was in the vehicle at the time. The driveway belongs to Shreece Brown. She told KRCR Newschannel 7 she had no idea who that car belonged to.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office said Brown does know something about the case. They are still investigating.
Sheriff's deputies have put 24-hour patrols in place in the area. They say if you know anything about it please call them.
