Pedestrian Dies 5 Days After He Was Hit By a Car

CHICO, Calif. -

A Chico man has died,  five days after he was hit by a car.

A family member said Tobias "Toby" Vigil, 55, died Tuesday night at Enloe Hospital in Chico.

Vigil was hit by a car last Thursday afternoon on Park Avenue at 15th Street in South Chico.  Family members said he suffered a broken leg, massive head trauma and had been in a coma since the accident.

Witnesses told police Vigil appeared to have an argument with the driver William Llamas, 45 of Paradise.  Police said Llamas was in his vehicle stopped at a crosswalk waiting for Vigil to cross the street.

After the accident police issued a news release asking witnesses to the accident to come forward.

A viewing will be held for Vigil Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Newton Bracewell Funeral Home.  Vigil's funeral will  be held Friday at 1 pm.
