Pets Killed In Chico House Fire

An early afternoon fire damaged a home in Chico and killed two family pets.
The fire broke out just before 1 p.m. at a home on Keith Hopkins Place off Eaton Road on the city's northeast side.
Firefighters said it started in a back bedroom and also damaged the kitchen. There was smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.
The owner wasn't home at the time, but his two pets were killed, including a basset hound and a cat.
The resident is a professional musician and a music instructor at Butte College.
He was checking to see if his large collection of guitars had been damaged
