Pro-Atheist Billboards in Chico Vandalized
One of the dozen pro-atheist billboards that popped up all across Chico last week has been vandalized.
A dozen of the pro-atheist billboards made their debut in Chico on Dec. 5, spreading all over the city from the corner of First St. and Walnut St. to the Skyway near Honey Run Road.
They were put up by the Butte County Coalition of Reason, launching their group for non-believers and contained the quote, "Don't Believe in God? Join the Club."
Now, the billboard on the Skyway has some unwanted changes.
Someone ripped off the "Don't" part of the phrase and the website from the bottom.
The billboard now reads, "Believe in God? Join the Club. Butte County."
George Gold is the coordinator of the coalition. He said he was sent a photo of the damaged billboard on Tuesday night and at the time, did not believe the photo was real.
Gold said he has not yet filed a police report and local law enforcement has received no complaints.
