A fundraiser Wednesday afternoon will benefit the family of a Red Bluff teenager who was killed last week. Marysa Nichols, 14, was found dead near Red Bluff High School, the victim of a homicide.
Bidwell Elementary School in Red Bluff is organizing Wednesday's event to benefit the Marysa Nichols Memorial Fund.
Teachers and staff members from Bidwell School will be taking food orders and serving customers at the McDonald's restaurant in Red Bluff Wednesday afternoon from 4-7 p.m.
Twenty-percent of the proceeds will go to the Marysa Nichols Memorial Fund. The event had been planned for some time as a fundraiser for the school. But after Nichols was found dead, school officials decided the proceeds should go instead to Nichols' family.
Nichols' body was found last Thursday near a creek behind Red Bluff High School. An autopsy determined she was strangled. The suspect Quentin Bealer, 39, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon when he will be charged with murder.
