Red Bluff Workshop Teaches Girls Self-Defense
RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A group of about 20 girls learned important lessons in self-defense today in Red Bluff.

But it wasn't all about kicking and punching.

The workshop, "Project Bold", is part of an effort by the Northern Sacramento Valley chapter of Girls Inc. to teach girlsĀ  confidence and a sense of self-worth.

"One thing we say is we're empowering all girls to be strong, smart, and bold," said Natalie Peterson, Executive Director. "It's just giving them an opportunity to really explore that (and) what it really means to be strong in mind, body and spirit."

Girls Inc. also holds programs in schools and after school and they have a slate of programs scheduled for the summer.

They are holding a fundraising gala "Boas and Bow Ties" next Sat., Apr. 13 at Redding School of the Arts.
