REDDING, Calif. -

A Redding man who confessed to murdering a homeless man in 2011 was sentenced to 16-years-to-life in prison.

22-year-old Deklyn Dean Bishop was found guilty in Shasta County court early Wednesday morning accused of stabbing to death 50-year-old Randy Loard on September 5, 2011.

Police were called out to Charles Drive shortly after 2 a.m. on September 5th. When they arrived they found Loard stabbed to death with cuts to his throat lying in the street.

Investigators said Loard was living in an encampment near Charles Drive and Bishop had confronted him a few weeks prior demanding he move and leave the area.

Bishop was arrested the day after the murder and confessed to killing Loard with the victim's own knife and burying it in a field nearby.
