REDDING, Calif. -

The retrial for a Shasta County man charged with causing a crash that seriously injured his two daughters was pushed back.

Nicolaas Myrtle, 29, of Palo Cedro, was arrested in March after he crashed his Honda on Gas Point Road in Cottonwood.

Myrtle admitted to smoking medical marijuana, taking Methadone and generic Xanax. He has prescriptions for those medications.

His attorney, Adam Ryan, said they are sending his blood samples to be retested to get the exact levels of the prescription drugs that were in his system.

Myrtle was convicted of child endangerment in Sept. The jury was hung on two other charges: driving under the influence and a second child endangerment count.

A retrial on those charges is now pushed back to January.
