Tyler Burton, the Shasta College football player who has been hospitalized since being punched in the face during a Halloween party in Chico, has been discharged from Enloe Medical Center, and will continue his recovery at Vibra Hospital of Northern California in Redding.
Burton, 21, had been at Enloe Medical Center since the assault happened in late October. He was punched in the head, fell to the ground and hit his head.
The Washington State native had been in critical condition and underwent two brain surgeries. His family was preparing to donate his organs last week, when he started making a dramatic comeback.
As of Thursday, Enloe Medical Center officials confirmed he was listed in fair condition.
Tyler's father, Roger Burton, posted on the Facebook page Praying For Tyler Burton, "They say God sometimes works through other people, never did I ever dream that so many of you would be pulling for my son. Today I went and bought a little Christmas tree, wreath and lights for his room . Now I am excited to do more. Thank you to all of you and God Bless."
The man charged with punching Burton, Andres Rodriguez., was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
