RED BLUFF, Calif. -

Police have arrested a man and charged him with homicide in connection with the death of 14-year-old Marysa Nichols.

Quentin Ray Bealer, 39, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon.

Police say Bealer is the man seen in Red Bluff High School surveillance video released Friday night.

Investigators say his acquaintances convinced him to turn himself into police for questioning, after the department received tips from numerous people who had seen the surveillance video.

They added they are still serving multiple search warrants related to this case.

Bealer is no stranger to the law.

A search of local custody records shows he has been arrested at least three other times on drug, burglary, and domestic battery charges.

Police originally arrested him early Saturday afternoon for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Nichols was last seen at school just before noon on Tuesday.

Her mother reported her missing at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

KRCR News Channel 7 first received a missing person report early Wednesday afternoon.

Red Bluff Police Chief Paul Nanfito said Nichols' body was found in a field near the Red Bluff High School campus at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Saturday by the Yolo County Coroner's Office in Woodland. No cause of death has yet been released.
