Two Tehama County deputies were injured in a scuffle with a suspect Tuesday night. It happened at 7:15 p.m. at a home in Red Bluff. Two deputies responded to a disturbance between two people at 21725 Hatfield Road.
Deputies found Jose Hernandez, 24 of Gerber, hiding in a closet. Deputies said Hernandez then physically attacked the two deputies. One deputy was bitten, the other had his face scratched.
During the scuffle, one of the deputies said Hernandez tried to take one deputy's baton.
Hernandez was arrested for a series of charges, including battery on a peace officer, delaying a public officer and possession of a controlled substance.
Two other people at the residence were also arrested. Shawna Anaya, 40, and Jaima Ibarra Barragan, 32, both of Red Bluff were arrested for delaying a peace officer.
The two deputies were treated at St. Elizabeth hospital and released.
