REDDING, Calif. -

Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon when a driver, who police say may have been under the influence of prescription medication, slammed into another car.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Lake Boulevard and North Point in Redding. Witnesses said a 2005 gold Toyota Camry driven by 53-year-old Susan Carson was traveling eastbound on Lake Boulevard and crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic lanes, then struck a green 1996 Ford Explorer driven by 24-year-old Rosanne Schanaker. Carson then struck a gold 1997 Crown Victoria driven by 52-year-old Lori Ingram.

Carson and Ingram were taken to Mercy Medical Center. Carson was arrested but released due to her on-going treatment for head trauma. Ingram was taken to Mercy Medical Center and treated for abrasions to her legs, head, neck, and back pain.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Redding Police Department.
