BELLA VISTA, Calif. -

A teen was killed Monday night while riding his bike on Highway 299 in Bella Vista.

The CHP identified the victim as Clayton Culverson, 18 of Redding.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, west of Deschutes Road on Highway 299.

According to the CHP James Smith, 57 of Round Mountain, was traveling 50 miles per hour in his Ford Thunderbird when he struck Culverson.

Culverson had been riding with a group of friends, and was the last one in group.  He was reportedly wearing dark colored clothes making it difficult for him to be seen after dark. Officers also said his bike didn't have reflectors.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was arrested.
