Update: Fatal Crash Closes Pentz Road In Paradise

PARADISE, Calif. -

Paradise Police responded to a fatal crash early Tuesday morning that closed Pentz Road.

It happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday on Pentz Road  near Feather River Hospital.

Police said a passenger in a Chevy Silverado died when the vehicle lost control and hit a tree near Pentz and Fickett.  The driver of the vehicle, Lynda Hernandez, was taken by helicopter to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.

As of 7 a.m., Pentz Road remained closed between Feather River Hospital and Pearson Road.

It was raining a the time of the crash and the road was wet.  Police said the preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor in the incident.
