Update: Missing Chico Man Found Alive In Plumas National Forest

CHICO, Calif. -

A Chico man has been found alive nearly three days after he went missing.

Butte County Sheriff's Office said John Dewar, 73, was located Friday morning around 9:30 a.m. in the Plumas National Forest.

He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

On Thursday, authorities had located his van abandoned above Stirling City, in the Philbrook/High Lakes area.
 
Friday morning searchers from both Butte County and Plumas County fanned out to search for him in that area.   Dewar was last seen around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon leaving his home on East 8th Street in Chico.

Police said he has memory issues that may have left him disoriented.
