Update: Woman Identified in Redding Train Accident

REDDING, Calif. -

UPDATE: A train accident left one woman dead Wednesday night in Redding.

61-year-old Patricia Jane Emerson of Redding has been identified by the Shasta County Coroner's office after being hit and killed by a train.

A Union Pacific Railroad spokesperson said Emerson was laying under a piece of canvas on the tracks when the train struck her. It happened just east of Railroad Avenue and north of Grant Street.

The incident is still under investigation.
