REDDING, Calif. -

Some Northstate Veterans got a holiday surprise in Redding.

A group of volunteers handed out goodies at the Veterans Hospital in Redding on Thursday afternoon.

Tanya Spalti and her children started handing out holiday treats and cards to Veterans three years ago.

Spalti said they were especially motivated this year because both her father and father-in-law, who were veterans, passed away this year.

Hudson, Spalti's 11-year-old son, said this is the least they can do for them after all the sacrifices that the veterans have made.

"They go overseas, do these amazing things, fight for our country and almost most of them risk their lives to do all this. I think every veteran deserves a little Christmas gift and that's why we have the cookies right here," Hudson said.
