West Valley High Girls Basketball Had a Good Season On and Off the Court
The West Valley High School girls varsity basketball team is proving that studying at any given chance is worth it.
The group was not only successful this past season in leading their teams to another championship game and state playoff game, but the team also managed to keep a combined grade point average of 4.15.
The team said it is important for them to stay focused in both sports and academics. Kelsie Lywandowsky is a senior at West Valley High School. She said taking advantage of every minute of the day is worth it and asking teachers for help is what brought up her GPA.
“Teachers are really willing to help you, if you have to leave early from school they will come in,” said Lywandowsky. “Or they’ll stay with you during lunch and just help you to get caught up.”
West Valley High School teachers said they are proud of their students.
“They would come in during lunch meetings,” said West Valley High School Basketball Coach Julie White. “We allowed them to work on it on the road... we felt fortunate as coaches to be with this group of kids.”
