West Valley High Principal: Man Accused of Sex with Student was Never a Volunteer Coach
A Happy Valley man is accused of having sex with a student.
Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko told KRCR News Channel 7 that 25-year-old Seth Stroing of Happy Valley was arrested on January 4th and admitted to having a relationship that was quote, "inappropriate" and "unlawful."
Bonsenko also confirmed information on Wednesday that was written in a Record Searchlight article stating that Stroing was a volunteer coach at West Valley High School.
On Thursday, the West Valley High School principal and the superintendent of the Anderson Union High School District both denied that Stroing worked for West Valley High School as an employee in any capacity. They stated that he was not a coach, assistant coach or a volunteer.
"The gentleman in question was not nor has ever been an unpaid or paid volunteer coach with us at all; never has been," said Tim Azevedo, the superintendent of the Anderson Union High School District.
The school officials did say that Stroing had a family member who attended West Valley High and would sometimes attend games.
Authorities are not releasing the victim's name, but Azevedo told us she is a student at West Valley High School.
The investigation started about two months ago, but deputies say the relationship had ended by then.
Stroing is facing three charges: sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a person under 18, and penetration: special circumstances.
He posted $150,000 dollars bail following his arrest.
His first court appearance is set for February 11th.
