PARADISE, Calif. -

A domestic stabbing in Paradise early Thursday morning left the victim in critical condition.   It happened around 1 a.m., at an apartment at 1080 Buschmann Road.

Paradise police found the victim Michael Gardner, 23, lying in the driveway with a stab wound to his chest.     

Police say his girlfriend Kerri McClaskey, 23, confessed to stabbing Gardner with a steak knife.  McClaskey reportedly told officers the stabbing happened during a heated domestic dispute inside their apartment.

Gardner underwent surgery at Enloe Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.  

McClaskey was arrested for felony battery of a cohabitant and assault with a deadly weapon.
