REDDING, Calif. -

The Shasta County Coroner's Office released the identity of the man shot and killed near Alta Mesa School Sunday evening.

Thomas Sladek, 21, of Redding was named as the victim in the fatal shooting.

Dispatchers received a report  that someone had been shot around 7:04 p.m. Sunday and responded to the 2300 block of Saturn Skyway.

A preliminary investigation revealed a man had been shot at Alta Mesa Park.  Police at the scene said a 20-year-old man was shot in the torso while seated in a white Jeep Cherokee.  The victim later died at Mercy Medical Center.

Officers found Sladek in an alley in front of a home on Suzette Avenue, off Alta Mesa Way.

Redding Police said two men had approached Sladek as he sat in his car. The men exchanged words and one of the suspects shot Sladek.

The suspects are described as a white male adult and a Hispanic male adult.  Both subjects were in their late teens or early twenties.  The white suspect possibly has acne scars.
