REDDING, Calif. -

A bicyclist was hit by a car Wednesday morning on Cypress Avenue near Bechelli Lane.

The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on one of Redding's busiest intersections. Witnesses said it appeared the Honda Accord hit the bicyclist from behind.  The driver stopped after the collision and spoke with investigators.

The female victim was bleeding from her head and taken to the hospital. Traffic was slow through the Cypress/Bechelli area.

The victim's condition was not immediately available.  Witnesses said she is frequently seen in the area riding her bike without a helmet while wearing headphones.
