WILLOWS, Calif. -

A Willows mother said her 8-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with stage three lymphoma cancer, and will be spending her ninth birthday in the hospital.

Taylor Payne was diagnosed with this disease in March, and all she wants for her birthday are books for her to read while she's in the hospital.

Her mother, Chelsa Payne, said that she took Taylor for a doctor's appointment in March for neck pain.  Payne asked the doctor to do an X-ray on Taylor and found a tumor the size of a softball over her heart.  They also found tumors on her neck and back.

This was happening when Payne was 17 weeks pregnant with her fourth child.

"We have as parents an amazing gift that we are given and I was given that gift," said Payne. "I knew Taylor wasn't right and I knew a girl who doesn't do medicine or go to the doctor; I knew that second that she needed that X-ray of her chest."

Payne said that people have been sending her birthday cards for Taylor. Taylor will turn nine-years-old on Oct. 30.

She's being treated in Sacramento and Payne said that she is expected to make a full recovery.   If you like to give a birthday card or book to Taylor you can send it to her at this address:

The books have to be brand new due to her condition.
