ANDERSON, Calif. -

Part of Anderson was plunged into darkness Tuesday morning and it was all due to a squirrel.

Power went out in the area of China Gulch Road Tuesday around 7:50 a.m..  PG&E confirms blackout was caused by a squirrel that came into contact with a transformer.  A total of 51 customers lost power for about one hour.

Service was restored at 8:55 a.m.  The squirrel did not survive the encounter with the transformer.
