"Bob the Water Guy" killed in water truck rollover crash
The CHP has released the name of a man killed in a crash near Platina Thursday.
Bob Wilson, 72, was killed when his Peterbilt water tanker left the road, turned onto its side and hit an oak tree.
The collision happened at 5:15 p.m. on Platina Road east of Bigfoot Road in Shasta County.
Wilson often drove the water truck in the area to supply people in the area who did not have running water at their homes.
A witness said Wilson drove this stretch of road up to 4 times a day. They called Bob a hero to local residents who gave him the nickname "Bob the Water Guy."
Wilson had reportedly been a truck driver for 40 years.
