Brush fire burns west of Redding

REDDING, Calif. -

A new vegetation fire broke out west of Redding Tuesday afternoon near Swazey and Delano Roads.  The fire was reported around 1 p.m.

The fire burned about three acres, with no immediate estimate of containment.

Two engines that were en route to the Clover Fire in Happy Valley were diverted to this new blaze.

Two loads of retardant were dropped and one helicopter drop was made.

There were seven engines and 1 bulldozer on scene.

The cause remains under investigation.
