OROVILLE, Calif. -

Seven Oroville landowners are being used by Butte County for illegal grading on their properties used for marijuana cultivation.

The county claims that the grading has damaged the natural beauty of the landscape and could also cause environmental damage.

The lawsuits seek to declare the properties 'public nuisances' and would require landowners to remove all plants, structures and equipment.

They would also have to submit plans to the public works department on how they will restore the land.

Should the landowners fail to do so, the county would restore the properties for them.
