CHICO, Calif. - Chico State University Police found 30 pounds of marijuana Friday morning in an abandoned shopping cart at the university owned parking garage on 2nd Street.
Police received a call just after 8 a.m. from a blue emergency phone directly behind the police station on the bottom level the parking garage.
When no one was on the other end of the line officers responded to where the call was placed and found an abandoned shopping cart directly below the phone.
"Inside the shopping cart we found a black plastic bag containing a large quantity of marijuana," said Patrol Sergeant Bryce Davison. "After we weighed the marijuana we determined it was approximately 30 pounds."
Davison and his partner confiscated the marijuana. He said it will be destroyed.
Davison said the case is considered closed unless someone comes forward with information.
