Brides ready to say 'Yes to the Dress'

CHICO, Calif. - The glow in Katie White's face said it all.  Hundreds of wedding dresses to look over and all of them at deep discounts.  And the timing was perfect, as Katie will be betrothed in October.

"I feel like on that day, especially for someone like me, I haven't worn a lot of dresses in my life." said White. "So this day is an opportunity to get dolled up ... and really look beautiful."

Some of the dresses at the Brides for a Cause event in Chico this weekend are 75 percent off the original price. That's because this isn't the first time these dresses have been worn.

"It's been worn just one time," said Erin Scharf, who is helping coordinate the sale. "The people who donate the dresses say 'I loved (the dress) so much that I want to give someone else the opportunity of wearing it.'"

Some of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to Wish Upon A Wedding which provides weddings for couples facing terminal illness.

"It's pretty cool to see all of these dresses," said Morgan Isaacs who will wed next month. Morgan and her future husband Tyler are shopping for just the right dress.

"I want a tight dress, strapless, that has a tiny train," she said.

She'll have plenty to choose from as there are over 800 dress on display this weekend -- including designer dresses that retail for $4,000 brand new.
The sale runs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Friday's preview event.  Admission Friday is $15 for brides who will get first dibs on the gowns.  The sale continues  Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Lakeside Pavilion in Chico's Cal Park.
