Plan to deal with fallout from emergency situation

OROVILLE, Calif. - Butte County supervisors will hold a special meeting to deal with the emergency at the Oroville Dam Friday morning.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors Chambers on County Center Drive in Oroville.

First on the agenda is a resolution ratifying the local disaster proclamation. A local state of emergency must be declared and ratified within 7 days in order for the county to obtain state and federal money.

Another resolution deals with employee paychecks related to the spillway event, specifically to compensate employees who were unable to work during the evacuation.

There will also be a public comment period.

Supervisor Bill Connelly has invited the public to share concerns about the operation of the dam over the last few decades.
