CHICO, Calif. - The 2017 Stuff the Bus food drive is fast approaching and all community members are asked to help.
KRCR News Channel 7 has partnered with local Ford dealers and the Salvation Army to collect non-perishable food for those in need.
Chico Fire Rescue's Station 1 is one of the many locations with collection bins around the Northstate for anyone who wants to drop off food donations.
Division Chief John Kelso said anyone with donations is free to stop by at any time during regular business hours. People wanting to donate can also give their non-perishable food items to any of the firefighters out in the community.
"We're happy to be a part of this Stuff the Bus program. We're hoping we can fill that bin completely full of food," said Division Chief Kelso. "I want our community to thrive and I want all the members of our community to thrive, so that's the folks who need the help, plus the ones that are doing well. I'd like to see us take care of the entire community."
This year's Stuff the Bus in Chico is on May 12 at the Downtown City Plaza. The goal is to fill two city buses with food, one in Chico and the other in Redding at Crown Motors.
