Chico PD brings in more officers for Cesar Chavez Day

Anticipating high volume of partying and drinking

CHICO, Calif. - Extra police are already on patrol in Chico  for what is traditionally a wild weekend of partying for the Cesar Chavez three-day weekend.  The Chico Police Department has four additional officers staffing Downtown Friday and Saturday nights. 

On Sunday night a new team of officers will be called in.  Police are also adding two additional teams of five for Monday night.

The Avoid the Eight saturation patrol will monitor drunk driving. Alcohol Beverage Control will have eight agents patrolling, and the Butte County Sheriff's Office will send up its prison transport van.
