CHICO, Calif. - A fire broke out in an abandoned building at 365 E. 20th St. in Chico around 12:30 p.m.
A code enforcement officer, Raul Gonzalez, responded and saw the fire inside the warehouse. He then used a two-by-four to spread the several items that were lit on fire and eventually, the fire went out.
A transient, 61-year-old Michael Anthony Taylor, was sleeping inside and saw a transient man either in his late teens or early 20's pile up a bunch of items and light them on fire. He then ran away.
No one was hurt and the fire is under investigation.
Also, there was a structure fire on the same lot that caught fire in July and believe to be started by a transient.
