CHICO, Calif. - Chico State students were shook up Tuesday when a car crashed into their home on Warner Street.
Firefighters say the driver was having a seizure and crashed into a bedroom. Luckily, no one was inside.
Chico Fire said a man was driving along Warner Street near the intersection of First Avenue. Firefighters say he went off the curb and crashed into the left side of the home around 11 a.m.
Witnesses said the man was trying to stop the car by putting it into park but then he put into reverse and stepped on the gas. Chico State student Andrew Kokinakes was in the room next door.
"The first thing that went through my mind is 'was the guy PK,'" Kokinakes said. "He had a seizure and hit the gas and went through the wall. Then I thought 'is Nick OK?' the guy who lives in the room, but he left for class a half an hour before. That was lucky."
No one was seriously hurt in the crash. The driver was taken to Enloe Medical Center.
No word yet on how the driver is doing, but all of the witnesses said this could have been a lot worse if not for some luck.
