FBI: Suspect in Chico bank robbery link to other bank robberies

CHICO, Calif. - The FBI said the suspect who robbed the Rabobank in Chico Friday morning is connected to other recent bank robberies.

Police said a man walked into the Rabobank on Mangrove Avenue armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash from the teller.

The FBI said the man is also connected to two other bank robberies that happened earlier this month. One was four days ago at another Rabobank branch in Yuba City, and the other happened on April 12 at US Bank in Yuba City as well.

The FBI is calling the suspect the "Man Bag Bandit".

One witness said he didn't see the suspect draw his gun, but he did take a lot of money.

"I was kind of scared when the guy came because everyone said to get down. It made me think the guy had a gun or something," said Rodrigo Garcia.

Garcia said he was the only one inside the bank during the robbery. The suspect took off and headed south from the bank. Police wouldn't say how much money the thief took.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s that was wearing a white shirt and hat. He was also wearing dark pants and weighs around 235 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right forearm.

Anyone with information is asked to call the f FBI at 916-481-9110 or the Chico Police Department at 530-897-4911.
