SUSANVILLE, Calif. - The US Forest Service Law Enforcement has filed a criminal complaint against the Pi Kappa Alpha Chico State Fraternity and its President, Evan Jossey, for allegedly cutting down approximately 32 trees at the Deer Creek Trailhead campground on the Lassen National Forest.
The Forest Service says it happened during an initiation of new pledges the weekend of April 21, 2017.
The criminal complaint against the fraternity also charges one count of possessing a firearm in violation of federal or state law.
Pi Kappa Alpha and Evan Jossey are scheduled to appear in court on June 26, 2017 in Redding.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are expected to be filed at a later date.
