OROVILLE, Calif. - Investigators arrested a 25-year-old man who they believe killed his 16-month-old son two and half years ago in Oroville.
The district attorney's office said they arrested 25-year-old Michael Dollar last week for the death of his son.
The crime itself took place on Nov. 11, 2010 after Dollar took his 16-month-old son, Deagan Jackson, to the hospital and told the hospital employees that the child fell off of the bed inside of Dollar's apartment.
Jackson suffered severe head trauma and was transported to UC Davis Medical Center but was later pronounced dead.
The autopsy found that Jackson's skull had been cracked five times and following the autopsy, investigators found traces of blunt force trauma to Jackson's head.
The district attorney's office said it was former Butte County Sheriff Perry Reniff who came forth with the new details and shared them with the Oroville Police Department.
"He assisted them with some information that we can't reveal at this point..." said Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey. "Mr. Dollar, who had moved to Bangor, was arrested last Thursday."
Dollar was arraigned Monday afternoon. He is being held at the Butte County Jail on a $1 million bail. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
It is unclear when the district attorney's office will release the details of Dollar's arrest but we will stay on top of it and bring you the latest information.
