DURHAM, Calif. - More than 1,600 students received their degrees from Butte College Friday night.
It was the school's 44th annual commencement.
Thousands of people packed the stands at John Cowan field to watch the students finally get the degrees they've been working so hard for. Top degrees included science, business administration, registered nursing and law enforcement.
Tom Forslund watched from afar to see his son, Brennan Forslund get his degree in law enforcement. Forslund said his son has always wanted to be a police officer. He traveled a long way to see the moment.
"I'm very proud, I flew out from Colorado to see it," said Forslund.
Brennan has been accepted to Chico State and will be going there in the fall.
"I just ask that he fulfill a four year degree and that's what he's working towards," said Forslund.
One of the oldest graduates was Janice Sumahit at the age of 62.
There were also a couple of young ones in the mix. Michaela Wyser and Sarah Weiss both graduated at 18 years old.
