New Chico courthouse takes shape

$65 million project to be finished in six months

CHICO, Calif. - The new North Butte County courthouse is beginning to take shape.  The courthouse in southeast Chico is in the open fields of Miriam park off Bruce Road.

Groundbreaking was in May and will be completed by December or January.

The $65 million project is over 67,000 square feet in size and will consist of five courtrooms.  The state-owned courthouse replaces the current Chico courthouse and the old one in Paradise.

It state-owned courthouse will be funded through court fees and fines.
