A fire in the Plumas National Forest is sending smoke into Butte County.
The Tobin Fire has burned 375 acres and is five percent contained. The fire was reported Monday morning around 9:30 a.m. near Tobin off Highway 70. The fire threatened power lines.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, as of Wednesday morning the fire is holding at Tobin Ridge. Fire activity is expected to continue to spread eastward and have uphill runs due to slope.
Containment efforts are being hampered by steep, rugged terrain. The firefighters' objective is to keep the fire north of Highway 70, south of Tobin Road, west of Jackass Creek and east of Rock Creek. Air support was scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
