CAL FIRE welcomes rainy weather
Firefighters are welcoming the rainy weather.
CAL FIRE Battalion Chief, Lance Berry said recently they've been swamped.
Fires throughout California have sparked up earlier than usual and they've had to jump into action quickly and haven't had much time to prepare for the summer months ahead.
Berry said while the rainfall on Monday and Tuesday might not affect the fire season as a whole, the cloudy weather is giving them a chance to get some training done as well as station maintenance.
However, he said the help from the weather is short-term.
"It's really not going to add to the snow pack, or fill the lake, or do any of that. However it is a good time to go out and get proper clearance in your yard so you have defensible space," said Berry.
Berry said he expects crews to back hard at work this weekend and into the rest of the month with hot temperature returning.
Berry said burn bans throughout the north state are still in effect.
