REDDING,Calif -

The Redding Rodeo held its second annual “Chicks N Chaps” event. The event is a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser that is featured across the nation.

The event started on Friday at noon. Ladies who signed up got to be a cowgirl for a day. Each attendant rode a fake bull and learned how to throw some ropes. There was also a luncheon that had different speakers, some whom were breast cancer survivors.

The luncheon also honored those who have fought the breast cancer battle and won.

“Early detection is key. I know a few people personally that have survived breast cancer and they still have complications, “ said Miss Redding Rodeo Brandi Sealander, in an interview. “But if they had caught it earlier, they might have had fewer complications.”

The event ended with dinner at 7 p.m. and a night of rodeo on Rodeo Flats.
