CHICO, Calif. -

Chico police are looking for information regarding a robbery that took place in Chico at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A 19-year-old man told police that he was walking with a female friend along the bike path behind N. Cedar St. in Chico when they were approached by a group of between five and seven men.

The 19-year-old said one of the suspects asked him what his name was, then violently pushed him against his bicycle.

His friend ran off while the suspects began punching and kicking the victim, taking his wallet, cell phone, pants and shoes.

The victim was taken to Enloe Hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his head requiring six staples to close.

One suspect, the one who asked the victim for his name, was identified in a lineup as 19-year-old John Staton, who was arrested.

One of the outstanding suspects is described as a black male in his 20's, approximately 6'5" in height and weighing more than 200 lbs. Another is described as a black male in his 20's with a medium build and dreadlocks.
